Ten Things to do During Lockdown

  1. Read a book. We like a lot of books, but we already wrote a post on 10 of our favorites. Here’s the link: https://aoteens.blogspot.com/2020/07/during-lockdown-you-will-probably-find.html

  2. Pick up a new and fun hobby. This one is a good one  because it’s easy to run out of things to do during quarantine, and if you choose something new and different to do, you probably won’t get bored. Be creative and pick something that you wouldn’t normally do! You could even learn to play a new instrument if you have a guitar, ukulele, or piano around the house!

  3. Practice your art. Drawing things has been a favorite pastime of people since humanity began, and for good reason. Finishing a drawing and having it turn out well is one of the most satisfying things on the planet, although it takes lots of practice. At the very least you can touch up some of your sketching skills and have fun while you do it.

  4. Write a book. Writing is both rewarding and fun, once you come up with a story idea you like. If you have trouble getting started, there are tons of story prompts on the internet that you can use.

  5. Try your hand at some crafts. Crafting is one of the most versatile things you can do. You can make anything from a paracord bracelet to a blowgun for nerf darts to bookmarks. If you need inspiration, the internet has all sorts of ideas and tutorials for satisfying and useful things that you can make with just the supplies that you have in your house right now.

  6. Hiking and biking. Taking a bike ride around your neighborhood can be very fun, and it is great exercise too. Hiking is wonderful if you can find a place near you that has a trail either through a forest or a prairie. This kind of trail can be found in many places, and is a beautiful and fun way to get out in God’s great creation.

  7. Bake your favorite treat. Baking can be a very fun thing to do, and it can also take up a lot of time, which suddenly isn’t a bad thing anymore. Find a new recipe or use an old favorite; it doesn’t really matter.

  8. Video call your friends. Video calling has become such a big thing all of a sudden, but if you haven’t seen some of your friends in 3-4 months, find a time that they can video call with you, and just hang out for a while.

  9. Spend some time by yourself. Even though you probably just want to be around people, it can be relaxing to do something by yourself every now and then. This gives you time to think about life, ponder philosophy, or do any number of things. Maybe you want to plan something out, pray, go over all the baking supplies you have, or just take a moment to stop and relax.

  10. Watch a movie with your family. There are some great family movies out there, first and foremost The Princess Bride (if you haven’t watched it,  you have to do it the next opportunity you get), but there are so many others. Others include the Avengers, the Lego Movie, pretty much any animated Disney movie, Herbie the Love Bug, and many more.
