Thoughts on Romans 8:18-39
Romans 8:18-39
Hello everyone! We wanted to share this passage in Romans 8 with you because it has been
very encouraging to us.
Romans 8 is one of the most encouraging passages that you can find in your Bible,
and a lot of it is very relatable to this whole pandemic. Most notably, verse 18:
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing
with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Paul could almost have time traveled to
2020 and then gone back and written that.
Verse 28, one of the most famous and most quoted passages in scripture, says
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to his purpose.”
COVID is scary and sin is very real, but we know that all things--even this virus--
will work together for good.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all,
how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”
Verses 31b-36 emphasize God’s promise to always be there and to always have a plan for us.
Verses 37-39 are so comforting. Nothing can ever pull us away from Jesus, no matter what happens.
“'No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers,
nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
We can rest in His sovereignty!
